jon levenson

Levenson was a career actor in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles for many years. He was part of the original Broadway cast of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart. When the Navy took his brother-in-law overseas, Levenson came home to do some hardcore uncle-ing. It was during this time he fell for writing.

Truth be told, Jon’s been around the block. With two Masters' Degrees in Screenwriting and International Theatre, stories are his passion. As an Editor and Copywriter, Levenson’s led multi-media campaigns for Pentel, Intex, Takeya, and more. And he’s ghost-written for several celebrity doctors and scripted videos (short and long-form), provided website copy, and written product and packaging copy for over 20 brands in the last 5 years.

Having spent time studying different scripts and ways of speaking, Levenson has a firm grasp on utilizing all kinds of jargon. He’s a versatile creator of material who thinks of readers as audiences that deserve to be entertained and educated.

Levenson’s first short film, Someone Will Assist You Shortly, premiered at the Montclair Film Festival in October 2021. The film was lauded at several festivals throughout 2022 and closed its run by winning Best Short Narrative Film at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. Levenson is currently a Co-Director of Programming for the Cambria Film Festival.

Jon received his first M.F.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his second in Screenwriting at University of California, Riverside. Levenson is a proud SAG-AFTRA member.

He currently lives on the Central Coast of California with his smarty-pants husband, Steve, and their spoiled moosh of a mutt, Winnie.
